Official introduction of 180 e-bicycles in postal service

On 9th October 2015, celebrating the World Post Day and Croatian National Post day (10th October), Croatian Post presented to the public electric bicycles that will replace 180 scooters operating in urban areas. The acquisition of 180 electric bicycles worth 492 000 euros was supported by co-financing from Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund with 149 000 euros. Different e-bikes were previously tested within PRO-E-BIKE project (2 e-bicycles, one e-tricycle and one e-scooter). Positive financial analysis and good performance results have encouraged company to invest in acquisition of electric bikes. After the replacement of gasoline scooters it is estimated that the cost savings will be 86 %, while emission of 100.31 t CO2 annually will be avoided. The coosen new e-bikes are FreeDuck 2 brand, which is a result of cooperation of company Ducati komponenti (Ludbreg, Croatia) and bicycle producer Krpan (Slovenia). The presentation of the e-bikes was attended by many journalist, Croatian Prime minister, Minister of environment and nature protection, Minister of maritime affairs, transport and infrastructure and others.
